BC Hello

Hello!!

Thank you for visiting my small space on the internet! I’m ecstatic about entering Pitch Wars this year. I’ve waited for over two years to do this, so it has been a LONG time coming (had to write a book worth reading about and life seemed to happen at the worst possible moments) and I could explode from my excitement.

So, who is Monica M. Hoffman? And why should a give a darn?

(My hair is a mess…sorry)                                                (Me and my hubby Dave)

I feel I can sum it up best with visuals. If you’re not a Gif fan…I don’t know what to tell you. I found the power Gifs and I’m addicted. I may need an intervention! Welcome to the dark side!

I’ve been writing seriously for the past 5 years, polishing my understanding of writing and even attempted a novel which was absolute crap. I threw that MS into a drawer and started on a new one, which is what I’m submitting to Pitch Wars!

My YA Sci-fi story has a bit of this…

Ender's game

Aspects of this…

Avatar

And was inspired by Data from Star Trek…

I have eclectic tastes in movies that range from:

Pride and p

To:

raptors

My favorite movie of all time is:

robin-hood-prince-of-thieves-original1

I know, I know…Kevin Costner…I CAN’T HELP IT!

I’m a fantasy and Science Fiction geek. Don’t even get me started with TV. There are too many to list and this bio would spread over a couple dozen pages.

Musicals:

Wicked – seen this too many time                                                                                  Les Mis – seen this more than Wicked

Wicked     Les Mis

I read everything for the most part. If it’s a good story, then I want to read it. Some of my favorite books are:

John GLegend JurassicSoS LWW SR

And many more.

My music taste are all over the board, and yes, I even listen to some country if the mood calls for it. I’m an ex-band geek. And yes, I was in the marching band (drum major) and no, our band camps were NOT like the camp portrayed on American Pie! I was born in Salt Lake City, UT and other than my younger adopted brother, I was the only girl of color in my class for several years!

I worked for the Walt Disney World Company, first through the College Program and then went back after I graduated. I loved it! It was an experience of a life time!

After Disney, I spent almost five years with an International law firm as an education law paralegal. I don’t miss that job at all…

I’m a hard worker and I always put forth my very best. I have thick skin and I take and appreciate constructive criticism. I think I’m easy to get along with. I’ve been told by my friends I’m laid back…I guess I am. I think of myself as a part extrovert and part introvert. Either way, I get along with most everyone. Rule of thumb, I treat others the way I would like to be treated. Period. I have a loud laugh that I can’t contain. If you love to laugh (Ha Ha Ha Ha – love Mary Poppins) then we will get along just fine!

I hope you enjoyed my bio! I feel already I’ve met some wonderful people I wouldn’t have had to pleasure of meeting without a contest such as Pitch Wars. Thank you again Brenda Drake for this fantastic opportunity!! And I look forward to reading the other bios!
